Sure, we all know Pilates helps keep us lean, toned and looking good, but it also helps the body function better!

If I hadn’t done Pilates before and after my hip surgery, I couldn’t have gotten back to work in 5 weeks and been tromping around the Colorado mountains in 8 weeks.  Pilates is just plain fabulous for preparing and repairing the body before and after surgery!

I am traveling right now, but got a really nice phone call from Hilary, one of my clients yesterday morning.  She got her second knee replaced last Thursday- a decision that she ultimately made because she had no other choice- the pain was keeping her from participating in her real life!  The reason she was putting it off was because the first knee surgery was so unpleasant.

Well, she started doing Pilates with me about 3 months ago to strengthen her in preparation for her second surgery.  She came once weekly to a private session and twice weekly to mat classes.  She scheduled her surgery and hoped for the best.  Turns out, Hilary was calling to say she wanted to send Pilates 1901 flowers or balloons or something because she was amazed at the difference Pilates had made in her recovery.

“I am just so tickled Tina!  I can’t believe it!  I have no pain;  I’m up walking around; and I owe it all to Pilates!  I truly can’t thank you enough!”

Now of course, it’s Hilary who did the work and showed up, but I know from personal experience just how much Pilates can help in a situation like this or for nagging back pain, etc.    It’s just nice when you hear from someone who is so happy with their results.

Check out these two videos from the Grand Tetons where Herb and I are hiking.  It’s vast and incredible and humbling….I just feel lucky to be able to hike here.   Just one more reason to keep exercising!

Stay tuned for more eblasts this week- the next one is 10 REASONS NOT TO GO ON A DIET!  🙂  Stay tuned!
